The Social Care Commitment
The Social Care Commitment was launched to the sector in early September and the website is now up and running. In order to make the commitment employers, individual employers, care workers and carers sign up to a series of seven statements that focus on values and behaviours and pledge to complete tasks that support the statements. It is encouraging to see how many employers have already signed up to the commitment. Sharon Allen Skills for Care CEO has commented “The great strength of this commitment is that it has been developed by the sector for the sector, so I’m not surprised that so many frontline employers have already signed up.”
A powerpoint - The Social Care Commitment – a promise to keep (employees) has been developed for employers to use with their staff explaining the SCC is available to download from the Skills for Care website.
From December 2013 / early January 2014, once a Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered care provider has signed up to the commitment, the public will be able to see this on their NHS Choices profile. At the same time the public will be able to search the Social Care Commitment website and see which organisations have signed up, including any non CQC registered providers.
