Care Certificate

The Care Certificate started in April 2015 and replaced the Common Induction Standards. The Care Certificate sets out explicitly the learning outcomes, competences and standards of care that will be expected in the health and social care sector,  ensuring that new members of staff are caring, compassionate and provide quality care.

  • Devon County Council (DCC) has various support and resources for internal staff that can also be used within the private, voluntary and independent sector. To make use of the DCC resources please visit the Workforce Development pages.
  • Skills for Health support materials: A selection of materials is available to support you as you implement the Care Certificate in your workplace written by skills for health. Please search the skills platform for training support materials, e-learning and face to face training opportunities that can help with delivering the care certificate.

  • Skills for Care is the employer-led workforce development body for adult social care in England. Skills for Care offer workforce learning and development support and practical resources from entry level right through to those in leadership and management roles. A range of free resources are available to support your organisation with the Care Certificate on the Skills for Care website.
  • SCILS (Social Care Information and Learning Services) is an online learning resource / community dedicated to the Health and Social Care Sector. You can contact SCILS directly to find out about membership.
